Store bought lattes are usually loaded with empty calories in the form of copious amounts of sugar, bad fat and don’t fill you up like food. This is why drinking calories is a bad idea, especially when you’re cutting them.

Dandelion is a blood purifying herb and chicory is a liver detoxifier. When roasted, both chicory and dandelion have a subtle coffee-like flavor. The benefit of drinking this latte is that doesn’t contain caffeine and acidity that comes with roasted coffee beans and taste delicious! Cooking the roots instead of steeping them in boiling water helps to extract the healing properties of these roots.

Dandelion and Chicory Root Latte

1 ½ cup full-fat coconut milk 1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon Maca powder
1 teaspoon ground Chaga mushrooms
½ tablespoon ground dandelion root
½ tablespoon chickory root powder
1 date or stevia
1/8 teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of cardamom
Pinch of black pepper

Heat the water and cook the dandelion root and chicory root for 10 minutes. Strain the root into a blender. Heat the coconut milk and put it in a high-speed blender. Add the steeped tea and remaining ingredients and blend. Enjoy!
