How to Nourish Your Body During Winter Time

by Angie
“When we adjust our diet and lifestyle to match the season, health-promoting digestive microbes dramatically change. Winter microbes support balanced immunity, digestion, mood, energy, blood sugar, weight, sleep – and much more. Winter is also associated with the qualities of ‘Vata,’ which are cold, air, dry and light. To stay balanced, focus on food and activities that are warm, moist, heavy and oily.” –   John Douillard Winter is the dark and cold season of the year. It is a time to go inward, time of reflection, slowing down, nourishing the soul and supporting immunity. Winter according to Auverada is […]

Polish Christmas Traditions and Hunter Stew Recipe

by Angie
Christmas season – the best memories of childhood flavors come flooding in. Dishes flavored with excitement, curiosity, and happiness.   No other memory is as sharp as Christmas cheesecake, mushroom soup or homemade pierogis. Christmas fare with aromas of cooking, my family hanging out in the kitchen cooking together, playing with cousins and decorating the Christmas tree… a flood of rich yearning. This was a special time of bonding with relatives.   I could have spent days in the kitchen cooking with my grandma. Our house was full of food, christmas decorations were everywhere, and candies to match the upbeat […]

How Seasonal Eating Benefits You

by Angie
You might have heard that seasonal eating is the healthiest. My best memories of childhood and my country are the abundance of seasonal food. We hardly ate food, which wasn’t in season. We did not have fancy exotic fruits or vegetables. From the late spring to late fall we eat only food which was in season, grown locally, and then we were preserving it so we will have fantastic food for winter. Traditionally humans used to eat seasonal and locally grown food. Before the invention of modern transportation, we only ate what was in season. Modern technology has […]

Traditional Polish Beet Soup

by Angie
I love making Christmas barszcz – Beetroot soup. You can’t cook Polish food without it. Barszcz is served on Christmas Eve and it is usually clear (we make different kinds of barszcz) served with uszka (mini dumplings with mushrooms) and it is hard to imagine Christmas Eve without it.   The base of the soup is beets. Traditionally the clear barszcz is vegetarian or vegan. We use vegetables broth with some mushroom broth. Traditionally Barszcz requires a sour – fermented base (which great for digestion) made of sliced raw beets, which are fermented for 4 days. Then the sour […]

An Attitude of Gratitude.

by Angie
Thanksgiving is a beautiful time to be surrounded by family and friends. Expressing gratitude and giving thanks for everyone and everything we have is one of the most gratifying experiences in life. Being grateful and thankful clears all the negative energy and feelings that we are carrying all day long. William Arthur Ward said “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” —William Arthur Ward The practice of gratitude is one of the most influential relationships we can have with our well-being and health. Every morning when I get […]

Tips for Healthy Thanksgiving and Recipes

by Angie
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I can’t wait to hang out with friends and enjoy the feast. I love fall cooking, so that is a perfect occasion to make a couple of my favorite dishes. I do know though that it can be challenging for so many people. Temptations are all around us. I won’t tell you to not eat during that time because this time it is not about deprivation. I will just advise you to participate in a mindful way. In the end, you don’t want to end up in a food coma trying to […]

Tips for boosting your lymphatic system to help remove toxins and how to skin brush.

by Angie
I know, we don’t think much about our lymphatic system and a lot of people don’t know that it (lymphatic system) plays a significant role in helping our body to get rid of toxins. Without the aid of this system our tissues, cells, and organs would be full of toxins. The lymphatic system doesn’t have its pump, and it is up to you to stimulate its circulation.   Here’s how:   Drink plenty of water:   Your lymphatic system needs a constant supply of fluid. Make sure that you are not dehydrated during the day because hydration plays a […]

Libido is such an interesting (and complex) experience. Because of this it can be affected by so many things.
