Delicious Pumpkin Latte

by Angie

Fall has arrived, and pumpkins are in season, so I decided to make a pumpkin latte. I know when you go to Starbucks you will get the pumpkin latte with coffee, but this version is without one because coffee is not so great for our hormones.

I have never been a fan of Starbucks itself nor of their lattes. The drinks are a way to sweet for me, loaded with artificial flavorings, not organic and dairy-based.

The Pumpkin Latte I made for you contains all organic ingredients, no artificial anything, fresh spices, dandelion root, Chaga mushrooms, coconut milk, and a hint of maple syrup.

It is super easy to make at home, and it is so much cheaper!

The tea is very decadent, creamy and rich. You can also add ½ teaspoon of matcha tea if you want some caffeine in it.

Matcha tea works a little different than coffee. To the contrary of coffee which gives you a crash of energy after a couple of hours of drinking it Matcha will provide you with steady energy for 6-7 hours and won’t give you the crush after drinking it as coffee does. Match contains L- theanine, which is a precursor for serotonin and dopamine, and it acts like a mood enhancer. Match will give you a gentle energy boost without feeling shaky like you feel after drinking coffee.

I love to have it in the afternoon when my energy is a little low. And it is my late afternoon sweet treat. I used Maple syrup because it has love fructose content, contain lots of antioxidants and minerals. It also lowers on the glycemic index than sugar, which means it, has a better impact on your blood sugar control, which is essential for balanced hormones.

In addition to all the ingredients, you can also add one tablespoon of MCT oil, which is a form of saturated fatty acid a medium triglyceride to be precise. They help speed up your metabolism, improve cognitive function, balance your hormones, fight viruses and bacterial infections, and they are great fat to add. Coconut milk and MCT will keep you feeling full, and it will pervert blood sugar spikes.

I also added medicinal mushrooms – Chaga- for their health benefits. They have immune modulation properties; they are antiviral and help balance blood sugar. Chaga mushrooms are great detoxifiers. Proper detoxification is essential for hormonal balance. They also help improve the performance of adrenals because they are considered as adaptogens. Adaptogens bring homeostatic balance in the body. If stress hormones are too high, they lower and stabilize them, and if stress hormones are too low, they raise and stabilize them.

Enjoy this wonderful recipe on the cold days of winter or more relaxed day of fall.
